The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.
I recently saw a small UPI story that, unsurprisingly, has not received much attention. Nevertheless, it is an example of one small, organized coalition standing up and saying, "Enough is enough!"
Toward Tradition (the name alone virtually precludes any mainstream attention) is a coalition of Jews and Christians, founded by Orthodox Rabbi Daniel Lapin in 1991. It describes its mission as "fighting secular institutions that foster anti-religious bigotry, harm families, and ultimately jeopardize the survival of America." However, what attracted my attention was their announcement of their refusal to be "terrorized by 'tolerance.'"
Hoorah! One small step for mankind, one giant step for civilization.
Reportedly Toward Tradition intends to place (or try to place) an ad in at least one major U.S. newspaper. Good luck!
The group's national director, Yarden Weidenfeld, explained the theme of an ad. "It will be about the extent to which the left in this country has misused and misapplied the term 'tolerance' to impose a rigid, politically correct ideology on America," he said. Well "duh!"
"Tolerance" has become the left-wing wacko bludgeon with which they savage anything and anybody that would dare have the temerity to utter anything perceived (based on the left's exclusive interpretation of language and definition) as potentially politically incorrect.
Political correctness has become the ultimate perversion of form over substance, perception versus reality. The group is correct in observing that the country likes the word "tolerance" because it sounds American. But tolerance as applied by the socialist would-be controllers is anything but tolerant.
Weidenfeld is spot on when he observes that "the left has turned the word around to the point that dissent on subjects that once were considered moral issues or family issues, such as those having to do with sexuality and abortion, are no longer allowed to be questioned because to do so is labeled 'intolerant.'"
Ostensibly -- and come on, you have to give the devil his due -- the left has done a masterful job in implementing its corrupted definition of the concept and application of the word "tolerant." Of course, leftists developed their semantic skills to a point of art form. How else could a reasonable person actually challenge the definition of the word "is"?
The forthcoming ad reportedly says, "the enforcers of false tolerance make baseless charges of racism, anti-Semitism and homophobia to intimidate civic leaders, religious leaders and others."
This is how and why anyone who dares to suggest that Jesse Jackson is a disingenuous, duplicitous gangster, blackmailing corporations with the threat of perceived and manufactured-out-of-whole-cloth racism are themselves labeled a "racist." Conversely, anyone of color with more than two brain cells who criticizes the self-anointed "black leaders" are themselves marginalized with other epithets from "Uncle Tom" to "house nigger."
Any and all black men or women of reason who challenge the politically correct dogma as mandated by the rabid left are discarded as "out of touch," "unrealistic" or inevitably "sellouts to their white European masters."
Apparently only the Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, NAACP mantra is valid, and any protestations of Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas et al. are the co-opted invalid musings of fools. I don't think so!
"Ironically, the top enforcers include major Jewish organizations." Toward Tradition views that fact as ironic because the Torah, the five books of Moses, "isn't particularly tolerant" in moral matters. Toward Tradition notes that today you can't say that anything is wrong except for a vaguely defined "intolerance," which is presented as the ultimate evil. To be "intolerant" is ipso facto evil as is anything short of unbridled support and validation of that which (according to the left's definition) is politically correct.
"Gays" have overcome their insignificant numeric base by buying clout and intimidating spineless politicians with the same techniques nurtured by the aforementioned "black leaders." Once upon a time, we were instructed to be "tolerant" of "diverse" lifestyles. Hey, if it doesn't scare the horses, and they don't do it public, it's no skin off my nose. Whatever two consenting adults choose to do in private is nobody's business, right? Then it moved to "special" protections from insult, or perceived insult. Then it became "necessary" to legislate special treatment. It used to be a joke, but soon in certain communities it may be mandatory to embrace homosexuality as the norm rather than the aberrant.
The green envirowackos, nourished by the insidious United Nations and overreaching draconian plans like "Agenda 21" presume to dictate their minority views on everything from "Gaia" (Mother Earth as goddess) to how much water you will be "allowed" to use. The imminent energy crisis is a direct result of the hug-a-tree pawns that are too mentally challenged to even comprehend how they are being used.
Who made the left the tolerance sheriff? And why did we allow it to happen? I thought the U.N. and their controllers were supposed to be incompetent? They have been successful in implementing virtually their entire evil, all encompassing agenda. And we let them!
I mean, come on, the slide down the slippery slope to moral relativism and ultimate chaos defies reason.
How did we allow everything to get so bassackwards?
Toward Tradition has dared "moral cowards among the cultural elite" to go right ahead and call its members "intolerant" for defending biblical morality, constitutional liberty, patriotism and prosperity.
"Let them," says the organization. "We will no longer be terrorized by 'tolerance.'"
However, although commendable, it is not enough that this one coalition of Jews and Christians acknowledge a crusade against political correctness. It is right and good that they have drawn a line in the sand and declared "Enough is enough!"
What is critical is for more individuals and groups to join what is ultimately a cultural crusade to restore the essence of the republic as it was established by men who in fact said and did "with firm reliance on the protection of the divine providence ... mutually pledge to each other, our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honor."
Earlier I mentioned the slide down the slippery slope to moral relativism and ultimate chaos and how it defies reason. Hey, Thomas Jefferson saw the writing on the wall in 1791 when he wrote, "For the conclusion of this war [for Independence] we shall be going down hill. It will not then be necessary to resort every moment to the people for support. They will be forgotten, therefore, and their rights disregarded. They will forget themselves, but in the sole faculty of making money, and will never think of uniting to affect a due respect for their rights. The shackles, therefore, which shall not be knocked off at the conclusion of this war, will remain on us long, will be made heavier and heavier, till our rights shall revive or expire in a convulsion."
So I join with Toward Tradition in daring "moral cowards among the cultural elite" to go right ahead and call us "intolerant" for defending biblical morality, constitutional liberty, patriotism and prosperity.
"Let
them. ... We will no longer be terrorized by 'tolerance.'"
